Compatibility and Loading Presets from Earlier Versions into Arturia Pigments 6

If you have presets created with earlier versions of Arturia Pigments, you can generally load them into Pigments 6 with minimal issues. Here’s what you need to know:

Loading Presets from Older Versions

  • Preset File Format:
Presets created in earlier versions of Pigments use the same .pig file format, so Pigments 6 can open these files directly without conversion.

  • Import Process:
To load older presets in Pigments 6:

    1. Open Pigments 6 standalone or as a plugin.

    2. Open the Preset Browser at the top of the interface.

    3. Click the Import button or folder icon.

    4. Navigate to the folder containing your older .pig presets.

    5. Select the presets you want to load and import them.

  • Using Imported Presets:
Once imported, the presets will appear under your User or Imported preset sections and can be loaded like any native Pigments 6 preset.

Compatibility Considerations

  • New Features in Pigments 6:
Pigments 6 includes new synthesis engines, effects, and modulation options not available in older versions. Presets made with older versions will not contain these new features but will still work with the available settings they were created with.

  • Missing Features:
If a preset uses features that have changed or been removed in Pigments 6, those parameters may be reset or unavailable. This rarely affects sound quality but could alter some preset behaviors.

  • Sample Content:
If your preset uses samples or granular synthesis, ensure that any associated sample files are also accessible and imported properly in Pigments 6.

Tips for a Smooth Transition

  • Backup your older presets before importing.

  • Organize presets into folders to keep track of versions.

  • Test presets after import to confirm they load and sound as expected.
