If you've purchased or created your own drum kits for ADSR Drum Machine, you’ll want to make them easily accessible in your User Presets. This guide walks you through the recommended method for installing kits (sometimes referred to as “expansions”) so they appear properly within the Drum Machine browser — on both macOS and Windows.
Step-by-Step: Installing Drum Kits
After downloading your expansion, unzip the folder. Each kit is typically a folder containing:
A .dm file — this is the Drum Machine kit preset.
A samples folder — containing WAV files used in that kit.
Keep the .dm file and its corresponding samples folder together inside the same parent folder.
Locate the Drum Machine Presets Folder
To ensure your kits show up in the browser automatically, place them inside the Presets folder:
macOS:
~/Documents/ADSR Drum Machine/PresetsWindows:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\ADSR Drum Machine\Presets
To get there:
Open Finder or File Explorer
Navigate to your Documents folder
Open the ADSR Drum Machine directory, then the Presets folder
If the Expansions folder doesn’t already exist, you can create it manually.

Copy the full kit or expansion folder — including the .dm file and the samples folder — into the Presets directory.
Example folder structure:
Presets
└── Analog Percussion Kit (120 BPM)
├── Analog Percussion Kit (120 BPM).dm
└── samples/
Copy or Move the Expansion Folder
- Place the entire unzipped expansion folder (containing individual drum kits) into the Expansions folder above.

Launch ADSR Drum Machine. Your custom kits will now appear under the User Presets tab in the Kit Browser and can be loaded instantly.

Optional: Load Kits from Other Locations
If you prefer, you can load kits manually from any location:
Open ADSR Drum Machine.
Click the top search bar to open the Presets Browser.
Use the Location panel to navigate to the folder containing your .dm file and samples.
While this works, we recommend placing kits in the official Presets folder for faster access and better workflow integration.
