How to Move Sample Manager to a New Computer

To transfer your Sample Manager setup (tags, collections, indexed folders, etc.) from one computer to another:1. Locate and Back Up Your Database and Settings

On the old machine, manually back up your user data:

  • macOS:
    Open Finder and go to:
    ~/Library/Application Support/ADSR/
(Use Go > Go to Folder in Finder and paste the path above.)

  • Windows:
Open File Explorer and go to:
    %AppData%\ADSR\
(Paste this into the File Explorer address bar.)

🔒 Copy the entire ADSR folder to a USB drive or cloud storage. This folder contains your database, tagging info, settings, and indexed library paths.

2. Install Sample Manager on the New Machine

Download and install the same version of ADSR Sample Manager on your new computer to ensure compatibility with your old database.

3. Transfer the Database Folder to the New Machine

Move the backed-up ADSR folder from step 1 into the appropriate location on the new machine:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/ADSR/

  • Windows: %AppData%\ADSR\

📌 If the folder already exists on the new machine (from launching Sample Manager once), you can safely replace it.

4. Restart Sample Manager

Open Sample Manager on your new machine. It should now load your full library, collections, and tags just as they were.

🛑 Important Notes

  • Make sure Sample Manager is fully closed on both machines before copying or replacing files.

  • This process works without using any official “Export/Import” button — the app does not currently have that feature.

  • There’s no restore script in the standard install — the restore process is simply replacing the correct database folder.
